The world we live in is constantly changing. In the past 20 years the way we prepare food, communicate, watch movies and TV, utilize computers, et cetera, have changed drastically. Many of the tools we use for cleaning, however, still look and work like the tools we were using 20 years ago. It’s time for cleaning to change, too.

For many people, when they graduate from college or take that first adult job their living space is a small apartment where they can vacuum and mop in about 15 minutes. But as our careers and families grow, so do our homes and gone are the days of the fast Saturday morning cleanup. But keeping our floors clean and free of dust and dirt is important for the health of our home and the lifespan of our floors and carpets.

Better time management and organization always seem to fall on our list of New Year’s resolutions – just behind exercise three times a week and eat more vegetables and fewer cookies. We spend the first week of January getting our drawers, closets and filing cabinets in order; hitting the gym each morning; and cooking up healthy dinners every night. By the end of January, bills, toys and newspapers are everywhere and we just ordered pizza for dinner.

As we launch full force into the holiday season, we’ll be kicking our kitchen time into overdrive. Food is huge part of the holidays and many people spend more time in the kitchen during the next six weeks than they do all year. From the pies to the cookies to the homemade stuffing and Aunt June’s green bean casserole, our kitchens are exhausted by the end of the year.

We spend a lot of time worrying about air quality – pollution, ozone levels and carbon monoxide emissions. But we don’t pay near as much attention to the quality of the air inside our homes. From the cleaning products we use to the dust settling in the air vents, our indoor air quality can be just as icky as the smog settling over Los Angeles.
