What if you could clean and sanitize with plain old tap water? It might sound a little crazy, but it is possible with the Activeion Pro, a hand-held spray bottle that looks a little like something out of an episode of “Star Trek,” but takes chemical-free cleaning to a new level. Castle Keepers started testing this product several weeks ago, and it’s impressive technology. Basically, the bottle converts tap water into a cleaner and sanitizer as it sprays.

Considering their daily use – and sometimes abuse – it’s no wonder our kitchen and bathroom drains get clogged. Thanks to toothpaste, soap, shampoo, hair, food and who knows what else, it can be challenging for even the smallest trickle of water to make its way down the pipes.

Laundry is a necessary evil, one of those chores that has to be done, yet no one particularly enjoys. As college students, we just let the laundry pile up until the next trip home when Mom will graciously launder our uniform of jeans and T-shirts. When we enter the working world, we get a little better at our laundry and only wait until the weekends to do it all. And then when we get married and have children, the washing machine seems to hum day and night. But do we ever think about whether our clothes are truly clean? They may small like “fresh rain” or a “morning breeze,” but they are clean and sanitary?

Whether it’s the loveseat in your den or the seats in your car, leather is a popular choice. It looks nice and is comfortable (except when you’re wearing shorts on a hot summer day). According to the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification, leather furniture “is the fastest-growing segment of the furniture manufacturing industry, with numbers approaching 30 percent of the retail market.”

A study from the University of Arizona in 1999 found 25 percent of home washing machines were contaminated with fecal bacteria. Yes, you read that right: fecal bacteria in your washing machine.
